Due to popular demand, Lively Speech and Language Therapy, LLC is excited to announce the new addition of Intensive Phonological Awareness One-on-One Summer Sessions 2017. Evidence states that phonological awareness is a strong predictor of later academic success as it directly relates to reading, language, and writing skills in all content areas.

What is Phonological Awareness? Phonological Awareness is the ability to identify and manipulate the small pieces of the English Language, such as phonemes (sounds), syllables, words, and sentences). Phonological Awareness is much more that just phonemic awareness, or decoding letters to sounds, as it envelopes reading as an entire language processing skill.

Who will benefit? Children entering Kindergarten-Second Grade in the Fall of 2017 that exhibit difficulty with phonological awareness skills such as rhyming, counting out syllables, naming letters, naming sounds that letters make, and blending sounds together to read words would benefit from this group.

What will the session look like? Your child will recieve special one-on-one teaching in play to increase phonologial awareness. Each child will recieve an intial assessemnt, which will determine goals and frequency of sessions per week. Sessions last for 30 mintues and will be offered once, twice, or three times weekly depending upon your child's individual needs.

Who will teach the classes? Sarah Lively, M.Ed., CCC-SLP, a state and nationally certified Speech Language Pathologist (SLP), will oversee the instructional agenda and instruct small groups.

 When are the sessions offered?
